Our speaker was Verity Bartlett who gave a fascinating talk about the History and Future of the Master of Ceremonies - another field in which women are successful.  MCs nowadays are hired to keep guessing which essential oil was what in Tracey Holland's quiz!  We also had a place name quiz organised by Pam Howells before eating the lovely food we all brought.  We rounded off the evening with a two members of Swindon Stargazers.  We also went outside where it was fascinating to see the surface of the moon with its craters through a telescope.  No little green men were sighted!   Our December enabling people to find ways of going about their normal life so they can be discharged from hospital and hopefully live back in their homes.  Simple tasks like making a cup of tea, peeling vegetables and climbing stairs can be overwhelming for people who, for instance, have had a stroke, a brain injury or have dementia.  Using simple props we saw what OTs can help us do to get the most out of life something so beautiful could come out of a small piece of clay.  During the month some members went to the Trowbridge Sewage Works to see how waste is disposed of.  The site prides itself on dealing with 100% of the waste on site.  Other members took part in a Walking Netball taster session which was extremely good fun and way more energetic than one would think!  The WI is hoping to get sessions up and running in the autumn.  We have no meeting in August but are intending to walk from Broad Town up to The Crown at Broad Hinton for a meal.  Our September meeting (on 19th) is a talk by Kate Broad Town WI during the year of the Centenary of the WI so that it can be stored there to be enjoyed by visitors over the next 100 years!  There was so much to see in the museum and we were surprised Theatre followed by a lovely cream tea.  It was really interesting to see backstage and understand what goes on backstage.  Our two volunteer guides were full of information.  Well worth a visit.
